Thursday Night Chiefs sweep of the Lugnuts

I did get to watch two very good baseball games on Thursday: a double header of 7 inning games.

The Chiefs won the opener 3-2. Sandy Alcontara struck out 7 and lasted 6 2/3 innings but retired with 2 base runners…both which were to come in. I’ve never seen the reliever pitch well. So it was 2-2 going into the bottom of the 7’th when the Chiefs scored the winning run, based on a wild throw that got past the first baseman with the runner starting from second base.

The night cap: the Lugnuts starter made things miserable for the Chiefs and held them scoreless for 6 innings. And yes, the Chiefs got NO hits.

But in the bottom of the 6’th again, a walk and and an error put runners on first and second (error on a bunt). A ground ball gets the runner from second to third (one out). Then a fly ball to medium center field scored the runner..barely. That was one heck of a throw from the center fielder. And THAT was the 1 run the Chiefs needed; the side arm closer finished the Lugnuts off.

Tracy went with me; in the bottom photo I was trying out the camera.
