Sticky workout

Workout notes: first, a slow 5.1 mile run on my Cornstalk course (5.1 miles in 59:05). It was very muggy and warm.
Then weights at the Riverplex: pull ups (5 sets of 10, good), rotator cuff
bench press: 10 x 135, 3 x 185, 8 x 170
incline press: 10 x 135
military (machine) 3 sets of 10 x 180 (90 each arm)
rows (machine) 3 sets of 10
head stand (unsteady at first)
crunches (24), 2 sets of 12 twist crunches, 2 sets of 10 yoga leg lifts.

Baseball: the Peoria Chiefs moved into first with a 5-2 win over Cedar Rapids. They went up 3-0 early when the Kernels loaded the bases with no outs. But then the Chiefs got a fly out and a great throw from the outfield to stop a score. Then a long fly ball was caught just shy of the wall, and the runner at second was thrown out as he had left early; one run scored though.

Then there was 2 run home run late in the game. The starting pitcher struck out 9 and allowed no earned runs (Chiefs committed 3 errors…the only down side).

sandyalcantara

Sandy Alcantara has been fun to watch. The first time I saw him in person, he didn’t last the FIRST INNING; Bowling Green knocked him out with multiple multi-base hits. The next time I saw him he struck out 14 in only 6 innings (but did give up 4 runs and a few multi-base hits). He has hit over 100 mph on some of his pitches. Is there a major league career for him?

Here I am at the game; we had a special deal where we sat in the outfield picnic tables and got fed.
