GOP Debate 15 December

I tweeted during the debate; the tweets can be found here.

Here is my summary: it appeared that Senator Cruz and Senator Rubio went after each other, and that Senator Paul attacked both Governor Christie and Mr. Trump. Gov. Bush desperately went after Mr. Trump. Dr. Carson, Ms. Fiorina and Gov. Christie tried hard to stay relevant..and in my opinion, failed.

Ms. Fiorina made the “if you want something done, get a woman” remark and attacked Hillary Clinton the most. She also made decent points about laws and policies needing to keep up with communication technology. Sen. Paul made a few decent points about non-intervention and Mr. Trump continued to attack the Iraq invasion; he is clearly running against the Bush administration as well as the Obama administration.

I don’t see Mr. Carson, Ms. Fiorina, or Gov. Christie or Gov. Kasich as being relevant; frankly neither is Sen. Paul or Gov. Bush.

Mr. Trump fascinates me. He speaks simply and without depth. He also clearly didn’t understand what the “nuclear triad” is (ability to deliver nuclear weapons by submarine, land based ICBMs and aircraft. But will that matter to the voters?

  2. Ollie,

Season’s greetings and all that πŸ™‚

Trump fascinates me too……….although the fact that he has any support both amazes and horrifies me as well…….he makes Nigel Farage (our token racist / appealing to the lowest common denominator candidate) look positively thoughtful in comparison !

More than anything though, he reminds me of Heath Ledger’s Joker in the Dark Knight……………….he’s like a dog chasing cars, but doesn’t know what he’d do if he caught one……………………..he’s not a man with a plan, he just wants to watch the world burn !
