Rams end losing streak: beat Lions 21-14

Back to my favorite seats: first row of the upper deck.

Well, the Rams’s offense was shut out in the first half and they ended up getting outgained 331-317 by the Lions. But one Lion drive was stopped when a long gainer was called back due to a chop block penalty. And there was a “pick 6” off with a spectacular run back which put the Rams up 7-0 at the half.

Aside from the aborted Lion drive, neither team could string together multiple first downs as the defenses dominated.

The second half saw the Lions tie the score with a nice drive. They didn’t use their star receiver but instead relied Golden Tate quite a bit.

The Rams finally put together some drives, the first one was a 80 yard drive, which featured a 49 yard run.

A 6 yard touchdown run capped it off.

The Rams got a stop and then ran back a punt for a touchdown…called back due to holding. But they responded with a balanced attack that took us into the 4’th quarter; it was a 91 yard drive to put the Rams up 21-7.

The defense got a stop but the offense did little in the next drive. With 6:18 to go, the Lions used short passes to cover 86 yards, but took 4:13 off of the clock. So with just over 2:00 to go, it was 21-14.

But the Lions got an onside kick and things got very interesting. But they only netted 7 yards before turning the ball over; on the last play the quarterback was almost sacked, got away and threw a wild pass. The defender and receiver tripped over each other but the ball was uncatchable.
