A lame running meme

Hmmm, technically, this is true: a mile is a mile.

But one of these: I haven’t been able to do since 1999.
The other of these: as recently as 2009, I was able to WALK 26 of these back to back, sans rest.

Or, put another way, one of these I could do just a few weeks after knee surgery, the other I could never do.

  1. Still the thing that matters most is simply putting in the miles. I no longer see the need for speed. Although admittedly even when I did I was still slow 🙂

    • Non zero miles is better than zero miles. But I’ll say this: doing 15 miles a week at 9 minutes per mile will get me a better 5K than doing 20 miles a week at 20 minutes per mile. Intensity matters.
