The Gooseloop and other stuff

Workout notes routine 5 miler on Peoria’s Riverfront bikepath, which features the gooseloop.

The start of the goose loop on the edge of Detwiler Marina.

More of the marina; you sometimes see people fishing there.

A view across the Illinois River.

The dam that separates the marina from the river. This stretch can be deadly during bird mating season (both the geese and the red winged black birds).

Last week, the Wyoming coach guaranteed that his team would beat Utah. Final score: 50-0, Utah. Oh yeah, it was 40-0 at the half. 🙂

Overreaction. What do you do when your football team beats a 1-7 football team in overtime? You cancel classes!

This is beyond embarrassing. First: it is a FOOTBALL GAME!!!! Period. Next, well, let’s just say that when I was a Midshipman, our team beat a ranked Pittsburgh squad 21-11; at the time Pitt was only 2 years removed from the national championship. They also beat Washington in Washington; the Huskies ended up winning the Pac-10 and going to the Rose Bowl that year. So it isn’t as if Navy hasn’t had good wins before.

Oh well, it is a good thing that I don’t teach there.

    1) LOVE the gooseloop. That is amazing. I love where you are walking and see why you love it too!
    2) We were very pleased by Utah’s win… sweet revenge for last year’s loss. The Wyoming coach apparently gave us the finger at one point during the game!!! (Of course, the Utes did do an onside kick when up 43-0 so maybe we deserved it? ;).
