It does appear that way at times…
Peoria: we had our snowstorm; we ended up with about 1.4 inches….ok, that isn’t exactly a “storm” but that is 1.4 inches too many for my tastes.
We get ice tonight; that is far more dangerous.
Workout notes I was going to shovel and I did. Usually, I get up early so no one can do it for me, but our neighbors used his blower. I did some.
So to the gym: weights and stretching only.
rotator cuff
pull ups: 4 sets of 10 and 8-3
Super sets: pulley curls, pull downs (rotated grip), Hammer machine rows. 3 sets of 10 each (52.5 curl, 160 pull down, 210, 210, 200 rows)
bench: 10 x 135, 2 sets of 7 x 170
incline: 8 x 135, 10 x 135
dumbbell military: 2 sets of 15 x 45, 10 x 50 (getting the 50′s in position HAS gotten easier.
I did legs (push back, adduction, abduction) 3 sets of 10 each, and abs (crunch, twist, sit backs) 2 sets of 10 each, as “rest sets”
dead lifts: 5 x 75 dumbbells (one in each hand)
push up/rows (with 20′s: one set of 10)
Then I did some yoga/stretching on my own.
Comment: one young man told me that he’d seen me “speed walking” for a long time…evidently on Tuesday. I was trying to run (9:15 mpm for 8 miles on the track, 2 more treadmill miles). I STILL look like I am walking. Groan. I no longer move fast enough to generate “lift”.
Posts They have a point….
Even worse: some think that they can dictate OUR laws and OUR speech. They can’t.
Caveat: men are more judged by our wallets; so I’d say “before you make harsh, public judgments on a woman’s looks, how big is your bank account? How is YOUR resume?”
This is a belly ache waiting to happen. Hey, if eating something doesn’t shorten your lifespan, then it isn’t any good.
This is the 12 x 12 x 12, 14,500 calorie burger from Australia. In the US, we have the Heart Attack Burger:

Something tells me that these ladies don’t eat their products.
And they do practice what they preach: (via Deborah Kotz at the Boston Globe)
Nearly two years ago, I wrote about a heart attack theme restaurant in Las Vegas and wondered whether it was a health hazard after its 575-pound unofficial spokesperson died at age 29 of pneumonia, likely complicated by his extreme obesity. Well, now a second unofficial spokesman of Heart Attack Grill has died — of a heart attack.
John Alleman, 52, inherited a genetic predisposition for heart problems, with both of his parents dying of heart attacks in their 50s, according to the Las Vegas Sun. He suffered a massive heart attack at a bus stop, and it’s impossible to know whether his love of the Grill — he ate there everyday — did him in.
The restaurant’s Quadruple Bypass Burger weighs in at 9,982 calories and contains 3 pounds of ground beef. You can also get French fries cooked in lard.
At least two other restaurant patrons have developed acute heart symptoms while dining at the Heart Attack Grill, including a man who developed chest pain eating a Triple Bypass Burger, and a woman who went to get her heart examined after eating a Double Bypass Burger.
It’s not known whether these customers had a blocked artery and, if so, whether it was related to their meal, but research has shown that high-fat meals can trigger heart attacks in susceptible individuals.
