Some of the more vocal Republicans just aren’t very bright. 
Yes, he is a liberal and makes no attempt to hide that. But he is careful to not cross the line into becoming an activist:
Some readers have been asking me to go make a speech at one of the OWS demonstrations. If you think about it, however, you’ll see why I can’t.
I’ve been granted the enormous privilege of expounding my own views twice a week in the world’s greatest newspaper. I try to make the best use of that privilege, doing all I can to get the truth across and also advocating for what I believe to be the right policies. There are, however, some restrictions that come with the privilege; one of them is not crossing the line between advocate and activist. And there are good reasons for drawing that line.
Just in case you were wondering.

- To keep track of my training. I train for ultramarathons (I usually walk these) and sometimes do running races, bicycle rides and open water swims for variety. My best ultra accomplishment was walking 101 miles in 24 hours in 2004. There was a time when I could run a sub 40 minute 10K (did that once), but that was another lifetime ago; these a days
2427-28 minutes for a 5K would be more like it. I also have an off and on interest in yoga. - From time to time, I post what I am thinking about mathematically
- I often post links to science articles, especially articles about cosmology and evolution.
- I am very sympathetic to the “new atheist” movement, though some might consider me to be an agnostic. I reject any notion of a deity that interferes with physical events, but remain agnostic to the idea that there might be something “grand and wonderful” (Dawkins’ phrase) outside of our current spacetime continuum.
- I am a liberal Democrat who thinks that the current social atmosphere is tilted way too far toward the interests of big business, and I reject the idea that a “free market” cures all ills, though pure socialism doesn’t work either. I am also a believer in the freedom of speech, including speech that I might not like. Also, I’ve been involved (to a moderate degree) with political campaigns, ranging from City Council races up to Presidential races.
- Since being targeted by neo-nazis, I’ve started to identify with the anti-racist and the anti-fa movements.
- I like to post photos of trips and vacations.
- I sometimes blog about boxing matches and football games.
- I like women in spandex.

Only SOME dumb Republicans – I’d say many if not all! Especially those like Herman Cain who blame the victims. I actually like Ron Paul – some of his ideas are goofy, but on some things he’s a lot smarter than he’s given credit for.
Well, Dr. Andy is a Republican and is a lot smarter than I am (a low bar, I know); he is just terribly confused about politics. So there are some out there; they are not the vocal ones that the media likes to quote.
But yeah, I am revolted by much of what I see in the audiences at GOP debates, rallies, etc.
Actovist? Not to be too snarky, but if you are going to make fun of others for being stupid, you might make sure your spelling is correct
