Workout notes
Leg weights (hip adduction, hip abduction): 3 sets of 10 with 190, done slowly
Glute push backs: 3 sets of 10 each leg with 110
stretching, rotator cuff.
Swimming: 5 x (25 3g, 25 swim, 25 fist, 25 swim) on the 2:15 (started on 2:20 and finished the set in 11:15)
6 x (25 kick, 25 swim) fins; alternated front, right, left)
1000 in 17:43 (13:27 at 750, then 4:16 for the final 250)
this was 10 seconds faster than last week and 42 seconds faster than 3 weeks ago or so.
200 back
150 fly kick with fins
50 breast.

This CNN list of “exercise myths” is interesting.
I’ll comment on two of them:
heart rate monitor: I ran my best two marathons when I wore a heart rate monitor which helped me keep my pace under control in the early miles. This is a time when a taper plus excitement masked how my body felt. But that was years ago; I do without it.
Stretching I found out that yoga helped me keep from pulling my hamstrings. But our class includes “flow” which is moving stretching, so perhaps there is something to this. Also, for me, stretching relaxes the mind and makes my back feel good.
