Navy vs. ND in Football: payback time?

Well, going into the game, Navy had won 2 of the last 3. But this year, ND had played a harder schedule (so I thought) and deserved to be favored by a 6-7 point margin (so I thought), though I thought the game would be close and winnable.

Going into the 4′th quarter, it is 35-10 Navy. This is very different than the previous 2 games, when Navy had to win in the last 2 minutes.

ND threw two interceptions and Navy converted.
The stage was set on the opening drive; ND drove to the Navy 1 but failed on 4′th and goal; Navy then drove it 99 yards for the first score.

It was then 14-10 when ND threw its first interception; Navy took it in to go 21-10.

Then in the third, Navy struck with a 70 yard plus drive to go up 28-10; then Navy got another interception to stop a ND threat and drove it again to make it 35-10.

This is a butt-kicking and is beginning to make up for some of those big scores that Navy lost by for so many years.

Ok, it is 35-17 but only 6:12 remains; ND needs 3 scores. Navy needs a long, time eating drive. So far they have 415 yards with 344 on the ground.

It ends…35-17 Navy…a complete whipping.

Texas is struggling and losing to Iowa State 21-6 in the 3′rd quarter. I didn’t expect this..but there is still time for a rally.

Oh goodness; 28-6 Iowa State. Texas has struggled in Austin; remember this is where they got trounced by UCLA.
But Texas responded with a quick TD and 2 point conversion. 28-14 Cyclones.

Illinois leads Indiana 29-13 going into the 4′th quarter (2 interceptions; one run in for a touchdown)
Make that 36-13 with 3:50 to go…so I am turning it to the Northwestern-Michigan State game which is 28-27 Spartans with 1:44 to go.

The Illinois game ended 43-13 (two TDs off of interception returns); MSU got an insurance TD to win 35-27.

Texas-Iowa State: it is now 28-21 Iowa State… Over 3 minutes remain. Well, Texas had one final drive that got nowhere. It is a final.

Wisconsin-Iowa 31-30 Wisconsin; time ran out on the Hawkeyes at about the Wisconsin 35. Fake punt, missed extra point, long drives, bad snap on a field goal…lots of drama and hard hitting. Hell of a good game.
