Illinois River Flooding: Peoria, March 2009; near the Riverplex and Goose Loop

The whole album (16 photos) is here.

I’ll post a few of them:

Olivia near the Riverplex

Here is another view. Note that there is supposed to be a bike path running between the Riverplex and the Illinois River.

Looking out from the Riverplex back steps. Note that the flagpoles are supposed to be on dry land.

That is a family of hybrid geese near the water’s edge. This body of water is covering a parking lot.

Note that one can see quite a bit of variation here; one goose has a black bill and another has an orange one. All of them have orange feet. The variations within a group of Canadian geese are much harder to spot.

The Canadian geese (the usual type found here)

This is the gooseloop (1/3 of a mile loop; about 540 meters long).

Another Olivia shot

About 1/4 mile (400 meters) from the Riverplex. You can see the trail disappear into the water.

Miday 16 March 2009

bush-cheney-record

As Liberals Must Die puts it: Bush-Cheney did so well! I wonder if we’ll read about it in President W. Bush’s new library.

Religion: Jesus appears as the outline of someone’s butt?

16 March 2009

Spring break day one: Slept in; 4000 yards: 500 warm up, 10 x 100 fist (on 2), 5 x 100 (3g/75 free) on 2, 10 x 100 on 2 (only half were under 1:40; had some 1:40s; one 1:41), 500 of fly/back, 500 of side/free.

Lots of old people were there. Still sleeping in was nice. :)

I did some core work also.

Social: It is always interesting to reconnect with people after many years. It is especially interesting to connect with someone that one once had a lot in common with, at least in terms of political and social views.

People move on and change, and I also think that they change as they move to new environments.

There is some musical talent

The above photos are from today: My stepdaughter’s husband loaned Olivia his jazz bass. That is Olivia’s instrument.

The photos below are from Austin last year: Barbara can play the piano and keyboard; Olivia can play the bass guitar.

I have no musical talent at all. :)
