Only GOTV Left

Barbara and I went to the Labor Temple to phonebank for Colleen Callahan; I got a hug and a back pat from Ms. Callahan. It felt good to do my part.

Tomorrow, we (Gina, Lynn and I) drive to Keokuk, Iowa to GOTV for Obama.

Note: the Obama campaign just called me to confirm our trip. Now THAT is organization.

National Election
Intrade: 364-174; they have Obama at 91.2 and McCain 10.1.

Polls
The look good (from my point of view) though McCain has some good news in North Carolina, Florida and Georgia.

Too little, too late. By the way, Karl Rove calls it 338-200, Obama.

DemConWatch has a summary.

The spread appears to be 273 (at worst) to 406 (at best) for BHO, with 337 being the “most likely”. My call at 375 appears to be toward the upper end of what is feasible.

Human side: sad to say, some election officials and candidates have suffered personal losses. Ms. Callahan’s mother died a few weeks ago. The chair for Obama’s Nevada campaign chair died unexpectedly last night. Dick Durbin’s 40 year old daughter died at the end of last week and, of course, Barack Obama’s grandmother (Toots) died today.

Of course, these are all Democrats as those are the folks I know; my heart goes out to the family and friends of the above, and of course, to the friends and family of those on the other side who may have had personal heartache.
