First 1000+ hit day ever!
Hey, my little blog finally got it’s first 1000 hit day ever! Ok, the vast majority of these hits were from people looking for Misty May photos.
If that is what you are looking for, check out my blog roll and look at the “eye candy” links.
(and I thought people were coming for my insightful analysis…)
Various topics:
Local Politics: Jehan Gordon, the Democrat running for the IL-92 House seat (vacated by Aaron Schock) just got her degree from the University of Illinois. She completed a finite mathematics course to finish it up.
This is more meaningful than normal for the following reason: during the primary race, one of her radio ads claimed that she was a University of Illinois graduate when, in fact, she wasn’t. Her literature and website said that she had attended U. of I., which is the standard way of saying “no degree”.
Well, now that shouldn’t be a problem; I chalked up that radio ad to sloppiness rather than to intentional dishonesty.
Personal Athletics My guess is that most dedicated but non-elite athlete goes through a “is it worth it; I do all this training but I still suck” phase. I know that I do from time to time.
Personal Stress It may be “all in your head”, but it affects the body as well. Things that one does from their emotional and mental health pay big dividends.
Olympic Decathlon Formula If you ever wondered about the point system for a decathlon, here it is. Of course, these formulas are really “conditional functions” which are based on the x – xo terms being positive; else slow times can lead to very high scores, or even imaginary scores!
Leave it to cosmologists to have fun with this.
Presidential race: tight for some time. If you want a laugh, go to a political website and watch reactions to the tracking polls: “oh Obama’s support went from 47 to 44 percent, he is losing ground! Oh wait, now he is up to 46 percent…he is rebounding”…
I wish these folks had stayed awake during their statistics class when “margin of error” was being discussed.

Just stopped by to say congrats on your traffic to your blog!
You mentioned 1000 hits. Well, here is to your next goal (Whatever that is – 10,000 hit day?)
Best,
Dave
No, I really don’t have a goal, and my “mean” is roughly 200.
I was just amused to find that I am not the only one who is interested in the topic that I mentioned.
Ollie,
The link to the article on stress is just what I needed. Not only did I have an “I suck” meltdown, but now I find that stressing out about the fact that I suck is even worse.
I wish I could at least pretend that I don’t care about this stuff.
I wonder if your link to my blog and your 1000 hits increased my measly traffic at all. Probably not, but I’ll take a look. Maybe I’ll put in a subject line of “free porn” to see if that brings people to my blog. Most of the hits I get from people who don’t know me come from a single post about knee crepitus.
damon
Wow, 1000 congrats! That would have me grinning, too.
