Talk about a short honeymoon
Workout notes 2200 yard swim, then 1 mile walk, 8 x 200 run, 200 walk, 1 mile run (treadmill), 3.25 mile walk home with my backpack.
It took me a while to get warmed up; my left hip/butt/bike crash area is a bit sore.
Note: my walk home felt like my walks a few months ago. I weighed myself with my backpack, and I was just over 200 pounds. Without it I was 194. Those 5-6 pounds makes a big difference.
Politics Barack Obama is getting pounded in the blogs that I visit because of the FISA bill and his making the decision to “support the compromise” while “working to take out retroactive immunity”. Example.

Here is a couple of points: at the beginning of the primary, John Edwards had the most support at the Daily Kos; after he dropped out BHO got most of the “anybody but HRC” vote. Obama was never the first choice among this crowd.
One of the reasons for this is that Obama has always campaigned as a “let’s listen to the other side and take their views into account”. In the Illinois Senate, he would actually withdraw one of his bills to listen to others, even when it appeared that he and the other D’s would be able to ram it down their throats. He isn’t a “do it and make the Republicans like it” type of guy (e. g., like Harry Truman)
Senator Barkley and I will win this election and make these Republicans like it — don’t forget that! We will do that because they are wrong and we are right, and I will prove it to you in just a few minutes.
This sort of thing makes the troops cheer, but that isn’t Obama’s way or how he plans to govern.
Besides, Obama really hasn’t won anything as yet; he is a Senator who is running for President and really doesn’t have a bully pulpit. But talk about having a short honeymoon! I’ve never heard of a honeymoon ending prior to the election.
Videos
I was going to post some George Carlin videos; Friendly Atheist posted the two that I would have.
Evolution
Does sarcasm have evolutionary value? Possibly; it might be one method by which we can determine if someone would make a good friend or companion.
Bees vs. Hornets
Science Avenger talks about the war between bees and hornets. Typically, a few hornets can kill thousands of bees and take their food and larvae to feed their own young. But some bees have evolved a defense against the hornets (their stingers don’t work against them)
An aside: hmmm, we see how “nice” nature is; if Intelligent Design is true the the designer is one heartless, sadistic bastard.
