11 February 2008: Repblicans vs. Democrats

In this post, I’ll focus on Republican-Democrat election issues.

Background: The Obama “Yes We Can” video:

Some parodies have been made called “No You Can’t” (John McCain)

Iraq war version:

These are fair criticisms.

We’ll get to one unfair one, which came from the right!

First, some vile stuff from the right wing. Right Wing Watch has a photo report from CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee);
this is one of the photos:

Classy, huh? Say what you want to about liberals, but if someone on the Kos said this about a Republican woman, they would be troll rated into oblivion.

Now for some sort of fun fluff from the Republican National Committee:
(yes, I chuckled at some of these)

They have some pseudo-valentines to send to people. Here is a complete set: enjoy!

Funny, but 4 of these 6 images are actually pretty good, and only one is bad. Nice going RNC: we actually think your valentines are funny! :)

Now, for some truly vile and disgusting criticism of McCain from the right. This takes about 7 minutes. Hat tip to Peoria Pundit.

If they want to criticize his work as a Senator, fine.

But as far as the collaboration with the North Vietnamese goes: at Annapolis, we saw some of the propaganda films that our POWs were forced to make . We were told this: “let this be a lesson to you. No matter how tough you think you are, if you are tortured enough, you will break. Try to hold off as long as you can, but when, not if, but when you break, move on.”

Believe me, I’ll attack Senator McCain’s voting record and his stances on the issues. But this sort of criticism is vile and beyond the pale; but let this be a lesson on what Republicans do. Remember that this video was made on 18 January, 2008, while Romney was still very much in the race. I am not blaming Romney, but I am saying that McCain was not the presumptive nominee at that time.
