One more prior to shutting up…

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis is getting blistered in the media.

A Chicago Sun Times writer can’t find any reason for keeping him on, and a Slate writer calls him the biggest fraud in football.

Wow. Yeah, his buyout package is worth 25,000,000 dollars. But my goodness; it can’t be any fun getting blistered in the media like that.

Of course, Notre Dame fans are crying about the hard schedule. “Hard schedule”, compared to the SEC and Pac Twelve powers?

Well, yes; to this point. Remember that Notre Dame’s schedule is front loaded, which means that they tend to play the harder games early; this is mostly the opposite from the other teams.

One computation has Notre Dame’s schedule being the hardest;

1. Notre Dame (1-9) 0.441
2. Duke (1-9) 0.440
3. Florida Intl (0-9) 0.428
4. Baylor (2-8) 0.352
5. Mississippi (2-7) 0.330
6. Syracuse (2-8) 0.318
7. Stanford (3-7) 0.312
8. North Carolina (2-7) 0.282
9. Washington (3-7) 0.277
10. South Carolina (5-5) 0.254

another has it being ranked third.

Interesting, but Notre Dame is ranked lower than YALE??? Western Illinois? Buffalo? Oh yes, lower than Duke too. :)

Hmmm, I wonder if these programs get better players than Notre Dame?

Speaking of coaches, Lou Holtz seems to be enjoying his career in broadcasting. Frankly, one of the reasons I even tune in to the Wednesday or Thursday game is to hear him and Mark May discuss the game. But his football knowledge is still there; this is from this week’s game:
