To Hillary Supporters: “Unfair” isn’t always sexist

Of course, Hillary Clinton supporters are claiming that she is suffering from sexist attacks and sexist media coverage and sexist treatment in debates.

Well, I think that she is treated unfairly at times, but not all of the unfair treatment is due to sexism.

(to see the some of the sexist treatment, check out the “cleavage” incident and this nasty rumor) Note to Tennessee Guerilla Women: it was a woman who started, or at least ran with this cleavage nonsense.

But the fact is that Hillary Clinton is different from the other candidates. She has been far more visible far longer than any of them; none were in the White House for 8 years! And, her lead in the Democratic nomination is rather large (as an Obama supporter, it pains me to say that) whereas none of the Republican nobodies…er…candidates has such a clear cut lead.

And let’s face it: her route to get where she is involved heavy use of her husband’s fame and accomplishments. Sure, had she not married him, she would probably have been a huge success; no one can deny her intelligence and competence. But in her journey, she got a huge boost from being married to Bill. No one can deny that either.

Senator Clinton is different from the other candidates for reasons other than her sex, and some of the different treatment will come from that.

And there is really no denying this: she is trying to sell herself to liberals even though she is anything but; that requires some slick, savvy politics, and those who really are liberal candidates have every right, hey, even obligation, to take her to task for attempting to appear to be what she is not.

So, if you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen! Ooops….is that a bad aphorism to use with a female candidate? :) And remember something that Fred Thompson might say: “The higher you climb up the flagpole, the more people can see your butt.”

PS: If you want someone to get piled on, imagine what will happen if Al Gore decides to run. Then you’ll see some piling on.
