Workout notes slowish 4 mile walk to the Riverplex, then yoga with V.

The walk was unremarkable except for how pretty the sky was; just as I was ending the red glow of the sun was coming up over the horizon. The sky was cloudless and Venus was really showing off; it was one of those diamond sky nights!

Republicans (and Lieberman) voted to filibuster the Hagel-Webb Amendment:

Yes, I know, Bush might have had constitutional grounds to veto this. But the fact is that we are burning out our troops; remember combat causes lasting emotional and mental scars. Something is going to have to change; either we withdraw or we go to a draft. (note: the article is not on the internet as yet; I read it in the print copy as I subscribe to The American Conservative.)

Barbara Boxer It is no secret that she is one of my favorite Senators.

Am I alone in thinking that she is hot? (ok, I would guess that her husband thinks that!)

Big Bang

Ralph Alpher, the physics professor who predicted the residual microwave radiation that would be left over from the Big Bang died last month. His case was interesting as those who discovered the radiation that he predicted won the Nobel, but he did not! Anyway, go to the link to read a nice article about him.

Big Bucks The latest polls for the Presidential candidates in Illinois; much to everyone’s surprise, Obama is doing well.

Obama leads Clinton 51-27, no one else over 5 percent. On the Republican side Giulaini leads McCain 34-19, with The Dummy (uncle Fred) at 12 percent and Romney at 11. The summary document is here.

Big Butts
My wife sent me this mini photo essay about how women’s butts change with time. I had to chuckle; the first and last photos are right on. But few women really pass though phase two; this reminds me a bit of what I once read on a runner’s shirt: “The older I get, the faster I used to be!”
