First Final Exam

Workout notes 2000 yard swim, which included 1000 in 16:53 (4:19 first 250; no flip turns). Then 1 hour of yoga with Ms. Vickie, followed by 7 miles of walking (2.5 miles of faster walking). We then ate breakfast together; it was fun to catch up.

As far as the FANS 24 race, check out the kind of workouts one of the walkers is doing:

On Saturday I went to a local park where I mapped a 3.2 mile loop (FANS is a 2.4 mile loop). I repeated the loop 10 times for 32.1 miles in 6:20:23, an 11:51 pace. On Sunday I went to White Rock Lake and did the “long loop” (standard 9+ mile loop plus the spillway addition for about 10.3 miles per loop) three times for 30.84 miles in 6:30:10, a 12:40 pace.

I think that I’ll let him go early. :)

Politics/Social
This section will be more lame than normal due to not having much time to blog today.

Evolution/Religion

I have the feed from the blog On Evolution on my google blog reader. The blog author directed the readers to the following “fun” things:
The Atheist Delusion and The Atheist Delusion Mailbag.

These are satire but funny.

Iraq
Representative Lloyd Doggett talks about the current Iraq Redeployment bill:

He represents my former congressional district in Texas.

Presidential Election

Good Bill Richardson ads.

The so called Romney-Sharpton controversy

Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.

Remember that Mormons had officially endorsed racism and remember that they view the President of their church to be an offical prophet. In other words, they believe that their gods endorsed racism.

True, my current denomination (Unitarian Universalism) too had shameful episodes; there was a time (late 1960’s; see the book Why I am a Unitarian Universalist by Jack Mendelsohn) when individual congregations wouldn’t let African Americans become members. But that was a case of selected groups of individuals being ignorant @ssholes and NOT what any of us ascirbes to revelation from a deity.

  1. Thanks for your FANS write-up last year. I’m looking forward to the event this weekend, though I’m not in good shape for it. See you there.
