Jingle Bell 2006

I’ve posted some in the recent past about the snowstorm which hit Peoria and the City’s poor response to it.

But the bottom line is that the 2006 Jingle Bell Run was cancelled (and yes, it couldn’t have possibly been held safely) and a “fun run” was held in its place this weekend.

I warmed up a couple of miles and noticed how poor the footing was in spots on the river trail.

So when the race began, we went down the trail and then back up to Adams (planned?) and basically followed the whole course, save perhaps the goose loop.

I jogged easily to Adams and then picked it up; I really passed a ton of people on Adams. It felt good, especially since I did a 1 hour stationary bike ride prior to running.

On the way into the Riverplex parking lot, some teenage brats from the local housing project attempted to throw snowballs at us.

Fortunately their arms were weak and their aim was poor.

Overall the run felt good and the hip didn’t hurt!

  1. I did not know they ever canceled running events. Austin was covered in a sheet of ice last February and that only delayed the Freescale marathon by half an hour.

Will they be able to reschedule?
